Our Story
Lifeway has always been focused on our community. It began as a prayer meeting in New Haven. As the Meadowbrook addition was built and expanded, it became clear that there was a need to which this little band of prayer warriors could minister. Soon they had a pastor and Moeller Road Wesleyan Church was born. In 1966, the first of our buildings was completed. The structure which currently houses our children's ministry was finished and filled by a growing band of faithful people who prayed, sacrificed and ministered in our community of New Haven and Fort Wayne. Quick growth brought about the need for more classrooms in 1968. Four years later, a fellowship hall, kitchen and children’s church area were added. By 1990, the original sanctuary could no longer contain the body of believers who called this church their home. In response, both our current sanctuary and parsonage were built. The year 2000 brought about another change: Moeller Road Wesleyan Church officially became Lifeway Wesleyan Church. Further growth and expansion of ministries in recent years had us literally bursting at the seams, so in 2016, we once again expanded our facility with the addition of a Family Life Center.
As we have just celebrated 50th anniversary the word faithfulness comes to mind. Faithfulness of the Lord as He has led, prompted and provided for this church body. And faithfulness of that original band of believers and those who have since stepped out, obeyed and sacrificed. Today we stand on their “shoulders” looking with wonder and anticipation at what the Lord still has in store for us as we “occupy until he comes” in our community, region, nation and to the uttermost parts of the earth in God's Great Commission.
